Police foil cattle rustling attack in Damba areaThe Zamfara State Police Command has thwarted a cattle rustling attempt in the Damba area of the state, recovering all livestock targeted by the attackers.
According to a press release issued on February 28, 2026, armed men suspected to be cattle rustlers stormed the Sunami area of Damba at about 2:20 a.m. with the intention of rustling a large number of cattle.
The statement noted that upon receiving credible information from a concerned resident at about 2:30 a.m., the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Damba swiftly mobilised the division’s search and rescue team to the scene.
The operatives reportedly pursued the suspects in a coordinated operation, forcing them to abandon their mission and flee. All the cattle were successfully recovered and returned to their rightful owners.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, commended the officers for their prompt response and professionalism.
He also urged residents to continue supporting the police with timely and useful information, assuring that the Command remains committed to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
