A clarion call has gone out to all Ogu indigenes worldwide to set aside divisions and rally behind the governorship ambition of Dr SMA Gold Ajose, whom the caller describes as the incoming Governor of Lagos State by divine grace. The appeal was contained in a heartfelt message of congratulations and political mobilisation issued by the founder of the Celestial Deliverance Church of Christ, Rev Prophet Dr Hungbenu Michael Olusegun.

In a statement, the founder of the Celestial Deliverance Church of Christ, Rev Prophet Dr Hungbenu Michael Olusegun, extended hearty congratulations to Hon. Mhr Oluwaseun Sesi Whingan before making a solemn appeal for unity among Ogu people. The prophet declared that the Lagos State governorship race is not about any individual like SMA Gold Ajose but about justice for a people whose time has come and is long overdue. He described the Ogu people as indigenous to Lagos with deep roots stretching from Badagry to Ibeju-Lekki, affirming that they are Ogu by tribe, culture and ancestry, Africans by identity, Nigerians by nation, and Lagosians by birthright and settlement.

Rev Prophet Dr Hungbenu Michael Olusegun called for the breaking of what he termed the yoke of political exclusion once and for all, borrowing the powerful declaration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, “Emi lo kan,” and rephrasing it for his people as “Awa Ogu (Egun) lo kan.” He appealed to every Ogu son and daughter across the world, as well as revered spiritual fathers and mothers, traditional rulers, and community leaders, to unite for the cause. He prayed that the spirits of the ancestors who first settled the land would rise to bring blessing and victory to their children once again.

The prophet further prayed for peace and progress in Nigeria and Lagos State, asking for divine protection and wisdom from the ancestors over the governorship aspirant, whom he referred to as the incoming Governor of Lagos State, Dr SMA Gold Ajose, by the special grace of Almighty God. He ended his message with the declaration, “May our land prosper. May our people rejoice. Awa Ogu lo kan. Amen.” Concluding his statement, Hungbenu reiterated the call for unity and divine favour, urging all Ogu indigenes to speak with one voice in pursuit of what he described as their long-overdue political recognition in Lagos State.
