Suspected members of the Boko Haram terror network have attacked a military base in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing three soldiers and injuring four others, including a local vigilante.

According to intelligence sources and local accounts, the attackers struck in the early hours of Monday, around 3:00 a.m., targeting a military formation in Kemanji, a community near the fringes of Kainji National Park.

During the assault, the insurgents reportedly made away with eight operational motorcycles and a gun truck.

A forest guard who operates alongside security forces said the attackers stormed the camp and opened fire on troops.

“They came directly to the military camp and started shooting. Three soldiers were killed and four others injured,” the source said.

However, another source indicated that security operatives mounted a resistance, killing several of the assailants during the exchange.

The area has long been considered a hotspot for armed groups, with factions such as Ansaru reportedly using parts of the national park as hideouts. Sources attributed the latest attack to the group, which has previously clashed with security forces in the region.

As of the time of filing this report, military and police authorities in the state had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
