Duke Alleges Politicians Resorting to Human Sacrifice for 2027 Victory

Presidential candidate of the People’s Redemption Party, Donald Duke, has alleged that some desperate politicians are resorting to human sacrifice and other dangerous practices in their quest to win the 2027 general elections.

Duke made the allegation in Abuja while receiving the Council of the Wise of the Savannah Centre for Democracy, Diplomacy and Development, led by former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.

He warned that growing desperation among political actors could fuel violence and plunge the country into crisis.

The former Cross River State governor also called for reforms to Nigeria’s electoral system, particularly the process of appointing officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

He argued that INEC must be genuinely independent of political influence, while urging tougher sanctions against electoral violence and other actions capable of undermining democracy.

Responding, Ariwoola urged Duke and other presidential candidates to run issue-based campaigns devoid of hate speech, inflammatory rhetoric and statements capable of inciting violence.

He said politicians must also discourage thuggery, vote buying, rigging and ballot stuffing, while ensuring that their supporters comply with INEC’s rules and guidelines.
