The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has elected Chief Solomon Arenyeka as its new State Chairman at the party’s State Congress held Tuesday at the Cenotaph in Asaba.

Arenyeka emerged by consensus alongside other members of the State Working Committee (SWC). Elder Moses Iduh was elected Deputy Chairman, while Chief Efe Uko emerged as State Secretary.

Other officials elected through consensus include Chief Paulinus Akpeki (Delta Central Chairman), Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba (Delta South Chairman), Engr. Daniel Ossai (Delta North Chairman), Elder Emmanuel Egbabor (State Organising Secretary), Barr. Valentine Onojeghuo (State Publicity Secretary), Mrs. Ifeyinwa Sobotie (State Woman Leader), and Christopher Agali (State Youth Leader), among others.

Chairman of the State Congress Electoral Committee, Engr. Vita Abba, declared the new executive elected following their affirmation by delegates, noting that the process complied with the party’s constitution and guidelines.

Earlier, former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, moved a motion for the dissolution of the outgoing State Working Committee to pave the way for new leadership. The motion, seconded by Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, was unanimously adopted by delegates.

Addressing party members, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, commended the outgoing executive led by Elder Omeni Sobotie for guiding the party through what he described as a defining transition period following the political realignment of April 2025.

Oborevwori charged the new executive to begin immediate preparations for the 2027 general elections, urging them to strengthen grassroots mobilization and internal cohesion.

“Our mission is unequivocal. We must secure victory at every level – the Presidency, the Senate, the House of Representatives, the Governorship and the State House of Assembly,” the governor said, expressing confidence that Delta APC would deliver massive votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other party candidates.

In his remarks, outgoing State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, described the congress as a product of unity and collective sacrifice, urging the new leadership to lead with humility and inclusiveness.

In his acceptance speech, Arenyeka thanked party leaders and members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to uphold the values of integrity, transparency and teamwork.

He assured that under his leadership, the Delta APC would work diligently to deliver all party candidates in the 2027 elections.

The congress attracted party leaders and stakeholders from across the state, marking the formal inauguration of a new leadership structure ahead of the next electoral cycle.
