Rainstorm Hits Abuja, Damages Wike’s Multi-Million Naira Bus Terminal

A powerful windstorm during heavy rainfall earlier today partially damaged the Kugbo Bus Terminal in Nyanya, Abuja. The storm also affected the Nyanya pedestrian bridge and several nearby buildings.

According to preliminary reports, no casualties were recorded, and no vehicles were damaged during the incident.

The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has directed the immediate deployment of security personnel to the site to maintain law and order and ensure the free flow of traffic. Officials have also begun preparations to repair the damages caused by the storm.

A statement from Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, confirmed the development and assured residents that prompt action is being taken to restore normalcy in the area.

The incident serves as a reminder of the vulnerability of urban infrastructure to extreme weather events in Abuja.
