Barcelona Agree Deal to Sign Gabriel Jesus From Arsenal for €10m Plus Add-ons

Barcelona have reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus on a permanent transfer, with the 29-year-old set to undergo a medical in Spain on Monday.

The agreement, first reported by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano and subsequently reported by several football outlets, is understood to be worth €10 million plus add-ons. Arsenal have authorised Jesus to travel to Barcelona to complete the final stages of the move.

Jesus’ medical has been booked for Monday, with the transfer expected to be completed once he passes the examination and the remaining formalities are finalised.

The move would bring an end to Jesus’ four-year spell at Arsenal, where he arrived from Manchester City in 2022 for a fee reported to be more than €50 million.

Barcelona turned to the Brazilian after their pursuit of Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez failed to produce an agreement.

The Catalan club had been searching for additional attacking options and reportedly see Jesus as a versatile forward capable of operating both centrally and in wider positions. Spanish news agency EFE also reported that Barcelona had advanced negotiations with Arsenal for the Brazilian, with the fee expected to be around €10 million plus performance-related variables.

Jesus still had time remaining on his Arsenal contract, but his future in north London had become increasingly uncertain as competition for attacking positions intensified.

Reports indicate that the forward had been training separately from Arsenal’s main group amid the transfer developments.

The initial package of €10 million, plus potential add-ons, represents a significant reduction from the amount Arsenal originally paid for Jesus.

The Brazilian joined the Gunners from Manchester City in 2022 and became an important part of Mikel Arteta’s squad, although injuries and increased competition for places subsequently limited his involvement.

His departure also gives Arsenal additional room in their squad as the club continues to reshape its attacking options.

Barcelona, meanwhile, are expected to complete the move after Jesus undergoes his medical on Monday.

If all goes according to plan, the Brazilian will become the latest attacking addition to the Catalan side ahead of the close of the summer transfer window.
