Borno Governor Zulum Dissolves Executive Council, Sacks All Commissioners
Governor Babagana Zulum has dissolved the Borno State Executive Council and sacked all commissioners in his cabinet.
In a statement on Monday, Bukar Tijani, Secretary to the State Government, said the affected commissioners have been directed to hand over the affairs of their ministries to permanent secretaries by Friday, April 3, 2026.
“The decision is to provide an enabling environment for any member of the council who may wish to contest elective positions in the forthcoming general elections,” the statement read.
Governor Zulum expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their dedication and contributions to the development and service of the people of Borno.
This move aligns with the amended Electoral Act, under which several state governors have asked political appointees seeking elective offices to resign before contesting in the elections.
