The Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria has announced plans to honour individuals and institutions advancing global peace at an upcoming international conference scheduled for May 20, 2026, in Abuja.

The high-level summit, themed “Information Warfare (FIMI): Strengthening Global Security, Trade and Investment Through Collaborative Truth: Role of Diplomacy, Intelligence, and Media,” will focus on the growing impact of disinformation on global stability and economic systems.

Chairman of DICAN, Idehai Frederick, said the conference is designed to go beyond traditional diplomatic engagement by addressing the disruptive effects of Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI).

He warned that the distortion of information is increasingly undermining investor confidence, disrupting supply chains, and weakening national economies.

“The integrity of information is fundamental to international commerce. When false narratives spread unchecked, they create instability that affects trade and investment flows globally,” he said.

According to him, the summit will promote what he described as “collaborative truth,” bringing together stakeholders across diplomacy, intelligence, and media to counter disinformation and strengthen global economic resilience.

The event will hold at the Rotunda Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja and is expected to attract ambassadors from major global powers, including the United States, China, and the European Union, alongside representatives from more than 100 diplomatic missions.

Participants will include actors from the intelligence community, trade and investment sectors, and the media, all expected to explore coordinated strategies to address emerging hybrid threats linked to information warfare.

Observers say the initiative underscores Nigeria’s increasing role in shaping global discourse on security, transparency, and sustainable investment.
