The mother of Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, Madam Esther Imaguomwanruo Idahosa, has passed away at the age of 95. She died on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, after a brief illness in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Friday Aghedo, announced her passing in a statement released on behalf of the Idahosa and Enabulele families of Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State. Friday Aghedo disclosed that the revered matriarch passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy defined by faith, strength of character, and devotion to her community.
The statement read, “It is with total submission to the will of God that the Idahosa and Enabulele families of Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State, announce the peaceful passing of their beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Madam Esther Imaguomwanruo Idahosa (neé Enabulele) on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the age of 95 years.”

Describing the late Madam Idahosa, Friday Aghedo noted that she was a venerable matriarch who lived a long, fulfilled, and impactful life. “Mama Idahosa, the mother of Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, was a venerable matriarch who lived a long, fulfilled, and impactful life defined by unwavering faith, strength of character, and devotion to her family and the community at large. Her remarkable legacy of wisdom was a source of pride and inspiration to all who knew her,” the statement added.
The family expressed gratitude to God for her long life and the enduring values she imparted, which they noted would continue to guide generations. They also requested prayers and understanding from the public as they mourn their profound loss. “The entire Idahosa family expresses gratitude to God for her life and the values she imparted, which will continue to guide generations, and respectfully requests prayers and understanding as they mourn the profound loss of their beloved mother,” the statement concluded.
