GOVERNOR MUTFWANG MEETS PRESIDENT TINUBU OVER PLATEAU ATTACK, DESCRIBES INCIDENT AS ACT OF TERRORISM

Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has met with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja to discuss strategies to address security challenges in the state. The meeting comes in the wake of a deadly attack in Jos North Local Government Area, where suspected bandits targeted a popular bar in Angwan Rukuba community on March 29, leaving at least 28 people dead and several others injured.

Following the attack, the state government imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North LGA. However, after the curfew was relaxed, reports emerged of hoodlums attacking motorists and commuters, causing further panic in parts of the city.

Speaking to correspondents after the meeting, Governor Mutfwang described the incident as “an act of terrorism” and lamented that the identities and motives of the attackers remain unknown. He assured that security forces worked to restore order, stating that the situation was under control by noon on Wednesday.

Mutfwang emphasized the complexity of the crisis, noting that understanding the true causes requires information from both victims and perpetrators, which is currently unavailable. “We are seeing this as an act of criminality. It’s barbaric,” he said, adding that the attack marks a decisive turning point that could lead to more proactive security measures in the future.

President Tinubu is expected to visit Jos Thursday to assess the situation firsthand.
