PDP Chieftain, Wike Ally Dan Orbih Dies at 80

A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and political ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, is dead.

Orbih reportedly died on Monday, August 31, 2026. His death was announced by his family in a statement issued on Tuesday.

The family described his passing as a painful loss but said it remained in total submission to the will of God.

The statement, signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih, on behalf of the family, described the deceased as a beloved brother, husband, father and uncle.

“With profound sadness and a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of the Almighty God, the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih announce the passing of our beloved brother, husband, father and uncle, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who passed away on Monday, 31 August 2026,” the statement said.

Orbih is survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih; his children, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih; his brothers and sisters, as well as other members of the extended family.

The family appealed to relatives, friends and well-wishers to remember them in their prayers as they mourn the loss.

It added that further details concerning the burial arrangements would be announced in due course.

Orbih was a notable figure within the PDP and was regarded as one of the political allies of Wike. His death comes amid renewed political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The family concluded its announcement with a prayer for the repose of his soul.

“May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
