ROAD CRASH CLAIMS 30 LIVES IN KANO

No fewer than 30 people have been reported dead following a fatal road accident involving a trailer at Kwanar Barde in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The trailer, which was reportedly en route to Gujungu in Jigawa State, allegedly crashed due to reckless driving, resulting in the death of more than 30 persons, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attributed the crash to excessive speeding, which led to a loss of control. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the FRSC spokesperson, Abdullahi Labaran.

Reacting to the incident, Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, expressed deep sympathy and condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.

In a statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity, Government House, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor described the accident as heartbreaking and a huge loss, not only to the affected families but to the entire people of Kano State.

Governor Yusuf directed the Kano State Ministry of Health to ensure that all injured victims receive free and adequate medical attention without delay.

 

He also instructed the Office of the Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs to immediately assess the casualties and put in place measures to support the families of the victims.
