SENATOR PRINCE NED NWOKO TAKES STAND AGAINST FAKE NEWS AND MISINFORMATION

The Office of Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko has issued a stern warning against the spread of fake news and misinformation using the senator’s name. In a statement, the office declared that the era of fabricating unfounded stories to mislead the public and gain traction online at Senator Nwoko’s expense is over.

The Director, Communications, Hon. Gloria Okolugbo, in a statement, emphasized that Senator Nwoko is a distinguished public servant fully engaged with critical national development issues that demand his attention. Okolugbo stated that the office will no longer tolerate the reckless and desperate antics of those who seek to exploit Senator Nwoko’s name for clout and engagement. Gloria Okolugbo warned that the office’s legal team, working with media professionals, is monitoring and identifying sources of misinformation.

The statement advised individuals and platforms that have peddled falsehoods about Senator Nwoko to immediately retract and take down such content. Gloria Okolugbo emphasized that this statement serves as an official notice of their intent to take decisive legal action against any entity or individual found guilty of spreading falsehoods. “Let it be known that laws exist to protect against defamation and misinformation, and those who disregard them will face the full weight of legal consequences,” Okolugbo said.

This move comes after recent rumors about Senator Nwoko’s personal life were debunked by his office, with his team calling the rumors “false and maliciously crafted”.
