TINUBU ACCEPTS KING CHARLES’ INVITATION FOR STATE VISIT TO UK

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted an invitation from King Charles III to pay a state visit to the United Kingdom.

The visit, scheduled for Wednesday, March 18 and Thursday, March 19, 2026, was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the United Kingdom Mission in Nigeria and shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

According to the statement, the visit will be the first state visit to the UK by a Nigerian leader since 1989 and is expected to further strengthen the long-standing bilateral relationship between both countries.

“The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, has accepted an invitation from His Majesty The King to pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom from Wednesday, 18th March to Thursday, 19th March 2026,” the statement said.

It added that the historic visit presents an opportunity to deepen cooperation and reinforce the enduring partnership between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

President Tinubu will be accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, during the visit, while King Charles and Queen Camilla will host the Nigerian delegation at Windsor Castle.

“The King and Queen will host the State Visit at Windsor Castle,” the statement further noted.
