Troops Neutralise 15 Terrorists After Satellite Surveillance Exposes Hideout in Yobe
Troops of Sector 2 under Operation Desert Sanity V have neutralised 15 suspected terrorists and dismantled a logistics base near Lamusheri Village in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation followed sustained intelligence gathering and aerial surveillance, which identified the location as a terrorist launch point and logistics hub.
Sources disclosed that troops, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), encountered resistance as they advanced towards the target. The insurgents reportedly opened fire on the approaching forces.
However, the troops tactically outflanked the terrorists, cutting off their escape routes and engaging them in a fierce firefight.
During the exchange, 15 terrorists were killed, while several others reportedly fled the scene with gunshot wounds.
Security personnel also uncovered extensive defensive structures within the hideout. All identified life-support facilities used by the group were subsequently destroyed.
In addition, five tricycles and two vehicles allegedly used for logistics and attacks were destroyed and set ablaze along with their contents.
Recovered items from the scene included a cache of arms and ammunition, as well as two bandoliers and several camel pouches.
The military confirmed that two personnel sustained gunshot wounds during the operation but are currently in stable condition.
While noting that the general security situation in the area remains calm but unpredictable, the military stated that troop morale and combat efficiency remain high.
