The Kwara State Government has begun a coordinated review of a disturbing video allegedly released by terrorists showing individuals taken during the February 3 attack on Woro community.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, said the government is working closely with security agencies and local stakeholders to verify the identities of those seen in the footage and clarify the number of people affected.

The attack on Woro community had sparked confusion over the exact number of victims abducted, with varying reports emerging in the aftermath. Authorities say no official figure has been confirmed due to discrepancies in early accounts and ongoing verification efforts.

According to the government, officials are carefully analysing the video while engaging community leaders to assist in identifying the individuals shown. Preliminary findings indicate that a few of those captured in the footage are residents of Woro. However, local representatives have also reported that additional persons remain unaccounted for.

Officials noted that some individuals initially listed as missing have since reunited with their families, while others may have temporarily relocated to neighbouring communities such as Wawa and New Bussa in neighbouring Niger State.

To streamline response efforts, a government committee led by His Highness Ahmed Ibn Muhammed has been working alongside security agencies and community leaders to coordinate rescue operations, humanitarian assistance, and support for displaced residents.

The state government assured families of its commitment to securing the safe return of all affected persons and bringing perpetrators to justice. It also urged residents to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and cooperate fully with security authorities as investigations continue.
