2027 Polls: Dickson Receives APC Youth Defectors, Promises Inclusive Governance in NDC
A coalition of youth leaders and political groups from across Nigeria has defected from the All Progressives Congress to the Nigeria Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The defection was announced during a solidarity visit to the National Leader of the NDC, Henry Seriake Dickson, in Abuja.

The group was led by a former Special Adviser on Youth Matters at the APC National Headquarters, Nasir Lawal.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Lawal said their decision to leave the APC was driven by growing dissatisfaction with the party’s internal structure and direction ahead of the 2027 polls.

He noted that many young members had become “internally displaced” within the party, citing what he described as increasing marginalisation of youth and women in party affairs.
In his response, Dickson welcomed the new entrants into the NDC, describing their move as a bold step that reflects patriotism and commitment to a better political future.

He assured the defectors of inclusive governance within the party, pledging to create opportunities for broader participation, particularly for young people and women, in shaping the party’s direction.
