The African Democratic Congress National Legislators Forum (ADC-NF) has announced plans to convene a world press conference focused on the defence of democracy, the rule of law, and the independence of the judiciary in Nigeria.

According to a statement signed by Rt. Hon. Zakari Mohammed, the event will bring together members of the press, civil society organisations, key stakeholders, and the general public to deliberate on pressing national issues.

The conference is scheduled to hold on April 21, 2026, by 1:00 p.m. at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre.

The organisers said the gathering aims to reinforce democratic values and advocate for the protection of judicial independence amid growing concerns over governance and institutional integrity in the country.

“This important gathering will address critical national issues, reinforce democratic values, and promote the protection of judicial independence in Nigeria,” the statement noted.

The African Democratic Congress National Legislators Forum further called on the media and stakeholders to attend and lend their voices to the promotion of democratic principles and adherence to the rule of law.

The forum expressed optimism that the conference would provide a platform for constructive dialogue and collective advocacy toward strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
