FG Opens 2026 PTDF Scholarship for Engineering Students
The Federal Government has officially opened applications for the 2026 Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) scholarship scheme, targeting engineering students and related disciplines across Nigerian universities.
The programme, administered by the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, opened its application portal on April 20, 2026, and will run until May 29, 2026, giving prospective applicants a six-week window to submit their entries.
The scholarship is designed for both undergraduate and postgraduate students studying engineering and other oil and gas–related fields. It forms part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen local expertise and build capacity within Nigeria’s energy sector.
According to PTDF, the initiative aims to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on foreign technical expertise while boosting human capital development in critical industries.
Eligible candidates are required to apply through the official PTDF scholarship portal, where they must create an account, verify their National Identification Number (NIN), and complete the application process online.
The scheme is open to students enrolled in approved courses linked to the petroleum and energy sectors. Undergraduate applicants are typically required to be in their second year with strong academic performance, while postgraduate applicants must meet minimum degree requirements and provide relevant documentation, including admission letters and academic records.
Successful candidates will receive financial support covering aspects such as tuition, stipends, and study materials, depending on the level of study.
The PTDF scholarship remains one of the Federal Government’s flagship education initiatives aimed at developing skilled professionals to drive growth and innovation in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
