Binani Air Expands Operations, Lands First Commercial Flight in Lagos

Nigeria’s domestic aviation industry recorded another milestone on Monday as Binani Air successfully operated its first commercial flight to Lagos, marking a significant expansion of the airline’s growing route network.

The inaugural flight departed Abuja and landed smoothly in Lagos, with passengers and aviation stakeholders commending the airline for its punctuality, professionalism and onboard service.

Speaking during the launch, President of the Binani Group, Aminatu Dahiru Chiroma, described the Lagos operation as a major step in the airline’s vision to build a reliable and customer-focused indigenous carrier capable of improving connectivity across Nigeria.

According to her, the new route reflects the airline’s commitment to supporting business mobility, economic growth and national integration through efficient air transport services.

“Today’s flight to Lagos represents more than an expansion of routes; it reflects our commitment to connecting people, businesses and opportunities across Nigeria. We are building an airline founded on safety, professionalism and service excellence,” she said.

Chiroma added that Binani Air was prepared to compete strongly within the aviation sector by maintaining consistency, quality service and customer satisfaction.

The launch also marks a historic development in Nigeria’s aviation industry, with Binani Air regarded as the first airline owned by a Northern Nigerian woman.

Also speaking, Chairperson of the airline, Ashatu Dahiru Binani, said the airline remained committed to supporting the Federal Government’s drive for economic growth and improved transportation infrastructure.

She praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies encouraging private sector participation in the aviation industry, while stressing the importance of collaboration between operators and regulators for sustainable sector growth.

“Lagos is a strategic commercial destination and this operation marks another important chapter for Binani Air. We remain committed to ethical operations, safety compliance and delivering quality services Nigerians can be proud of,” she stated.

Binani further assured passengers that the airline would continue investing in manpower development, operational efficiency and global best practices.

Passengers onboard the inaugural flight expressed satisfaction with the airline’s services, describing the experience as smooth, organised and stress-free.

One passenger praised the timely departure and orderly boarding process, noting that the professionalism displayed by the airline could attract more Nigerians if maintained consistently.

Another traveller described the fares as affordable and the service delivery as encouraging for healthy competition within the aviation sector.

Binani Air recently commenced operations with flights connecting Abuja, Kano and Yola, with the Lagos route expected to further improve travel options, commerce and regional connectivity across the country.
