ADC Picks Olooye Adegoke as Flagbearer for Oyo Governorship Race
Olooye Adegoke has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, following the party’s primary election held ahead of the next gubernatorial contest.
Adegoke secured the party’s ticket after defeating other aspirants in what party officials described as a transparent and competitive primary process. The exercise, which drew delegates from across the state, was conducted under the supervision of party leaders and electoral officials.
Speaking shortly after his victory, Adegoke expressed gratitude to party members for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to run an issue-based campaign focused on development, good governance, and improved welfare for residents of Oyo State.
He emphasized the need for unity within the party, calling on fellow aspirants and supporters to come together to strengthen the ADC’s chances in the general election. According to him, the focus now shifts to building a broad coalition capable of challenging other major political parties in the state.
Party officials also commended the peaceful conduct of the primary, noting that the process reflects the ADC’s commitment to internal democracy and credible leadership selection.
Political observers say Adegoke’s emergence sets the stage for what is expected to be a competitive governorship race in Oyo State, with major parties preparing to unveil their candidates.
As campaigns gradually gather momentum, attention will now turn to how Adegoke positions himself against contenders from more established political platforms in the state.
