Rangers International F.C. have been crowned champions of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season after a dramatic final-day victory over Ikorodu City, sealing a historic ninth league title for the Flying Antelopes.

The Enugu-based side defeated Ikorodu City 2-1 in Lagos to finish top of the NPFL standings and further cement their place among Nigeria’s most successful football clubs. Captain Chidiebere Nwobodo emerged the hero of the night with a brace that secured the crucial win.

The triumph means Rangers have now won the Nigerian top-flight title nine times, matching one of the greatest records in the league’s history. Their latest success adds to previous title-winning campaigns in 1974, 1975, 1977, 1981, 1982, 1984, 2016, 2024, and now 2026.

Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu also celebrated another major achievement, guiding the club to a second league triumph in three seasons. Rangers showed consistency and resilience throughout the campaign, holding off strong competition from Rivers United in a title race that went down to the final day.

Founded shortly after the Nigerian Civil War, Rangers have long been regarded as one of the country’s most iconic football institutions, famously nicknamed the “Flying Antelopes” and admired for their “Never-Say-Die” spirit.

Following the historic achievement, celebrations erupted among supporters as the club proudly declared: “We are Champions of Nigeria for a record 9th time. History made, and the badge worn with pride.”
