President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has held a high-level meeting with key leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from Bauchi State, signaling growing political consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Among those received by the President were the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, and former Bauchi State Governor and APC governorship aspirant, Mohammed Abubakar.

The meeting, held at the Presidential Villa, focused on political developments in Bauchi State and preparations ahead of the next election cycle, according to information made available after the visit.

The engagement comes amid intensified consultations within the APC as party leaders across the country begin positioning for the 2027 polls. Bauchi has emerged as a strategic battleground, with prominent APC stakeholders recently rallying support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid and working to strengthen the party’s structure in the state.

Political observers view the meeting as part of broader efforts by the ruling party to consolidate support in the North-East, where influential party leaders have been mobilising ahead of future electoral contests. Recent APC stakeholders’ meetings in Bauchi have featured leading figures, including Prof. Pate and former Governor Mohammed Abubakar, who have publicly backed President Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

While details of the discussions were not officially disclosed, the visit underscores the increasing tempo of political consultations and alliance-building within the APC as attention gradually shifts toward the 2027 general elections.

The meeting also highlights the growing prominence of Bauchi APC leaders in national political calculations, particularly as the party seeks to expand its influence in states currently governed by opposition parties.
