Breaking: DSS, Forest Guards Rescue Two Abducted Children in Kwara, Kill Two Suspected Kidnappers
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), working with forest guards and other security agencies, have rescued two abducted children during a coordinated operation in Kwara State, killing two suspected kidnappers in the process.
The children, identified as 16-year-old Fatima Azeez and her five-year-old brother, Ibrahim, were rescued on Thursday from a forest located between Oba Isin/Owa Onire in Isin and Ifelodun Local Government Areas of the state.
Government sources said the intelligence-led operation also left several other suspected kidnappers with fatal gunshot injuries as they fled the scene, while security operatives continue combing the forest in ongoing rescue and clearance operations.
Items recovered from the suspects include an AK-47 rifle, a single-barrel gun, one fully loaded magazine, nine empty magazines, a mini solar charger and food supplies.
The latest operation comes days after security operatives successfully rescued pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. Authorities described the Kwara operation as part of sustained multi-agency counter-terrorism and anti-kidnapping efforts aimed at dismantling criminal networks and improving security across the region.
