Russian Forces Capture Three Ukrainian Villages, Moscow Claims

Russia’s Defence Ministry said Saturday that its forces had captured three Ukrainian villages, claiming fresh advances in the eastern and northeastern parts of the country as fighting continues along the front lines.

According to the Russian ministry, its troops captured Khrapivshchyna in Ukraine’s Sumy region, as well as Novoandriivka and Rubizhne in the Donetsk region.

The claims represent another reported territorial advance by Russian forces as Moscow continues its offensive in eastern Ukraine and presses Ukrainian positions along several fronts.

However, the battlefield claims could not be independently verified by Reuters, and there was no immediate confirmation from Ukrainian authorities that the three settlements had fallen under Russian control.

Russia’s Defence Ministry also said its forces had struck a logistics centre in Ukraine’s Kyiv region, which it claimed was being used to store components for Ukrainian ballistic missiles.

The ministry did not provide details that could independently establish the scale or impact of the alleged strike.

The latest claims come amid continued intense fighting across Ukraine, with Russia maintaining pressure on positions in the Donetsk region while also operating near Ukraine’s northern border.

Ukrainian officials have continued to report Russian attacks across multiple areas, while Kyiv has increased its own long-range drone campaign against Russian military and energy targets.

The developments come as diplomatic efforts to end the war remain uncertain. Ukrainian presidential adviser Kyrylo Budanov recently said “technical talks” on the conflict could take place soon, although he cautioned against expecting an immediate breakthrough.

For now, the competing battlefield claims underline the difficulty of independently assessing territorial changes while active fighting continues.
