Bruno Fernandes Hat-Trick Inspires Manchester United to 5-2 Win Over Ipswich

Manchester United produced a stunning comeback at Old Trafford on Sunday, beating Ipswich Town 5-2 as captain Bruno Fernandes delivered a sensational hat-trick and an assist.

United fell behind in the 29th minute when Leif Davis gave Ipswich the lead, but Fernandes restored parity before half-time to send the hosts into the break level.

The Portuguese midfielder then took control of the contest after the restart. An own goal from Jacob Greaves put United ahead before Fernandes converted a penalty to make it 3-1.

Fernandes completed his hat-trick with a superb finish to put United firmly in control, while Bryan Mbeumo added a fifth after being set up by the Manchester United captain. Ipswich grabbed a late consolation through Chuba Akpom, but United had already put the game beyond their reach.

The victory was exactly the response manager Michael Carrick wanted after United’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to newly promoted Hull City in their opening Premier League fixture.

For Fernandes, it was a particularly memorable afternoon. The United captain not only scored three times but also registered an assist, playing a decisive role in four of his side’s five goals.

The result gives Manchester United their first Premier League victory of the 2026/27 campaign and provides Carrick’s side with renewed confidence ahead of their next fixtures.
