Speaking at the commissioning ceremony and stakeholders’ engagement held on Tuesday, 20th October 2026, Zungura expressed profound appreciation to the benefactor and friends of the police whose generosity and commitment to community security made the project possible.
He listed the upgrades to include the construction of an observation tower and paint house, provision of complete perimeter fencing, installation of a 12KW hybrid inverter with 16×620 solar panels, construction of entrance gates and comprehensive renovation of the entire division.
He said the interventions go beyond the physical improvement of a police facility, representing a meaningful investment in public safety, operational efficiency, police personnel welfare and the protection of lives and property, capable of strengthening the division’s operational capacity and supporting a more effective response to security challenges.
“Today is not merely a ceremony for the unveiling of renovated infrastructure. It is a demonstration of what can be achieved when the government, the police, well-meaning individuals, and the community work together towards a common goal,” Zungura said.
He expressed the sincere gratitude of the Inspector-General of Police, the management of the Osun State Police Command and the entire Nigeria Police Force to the distinguished friend of the police, hoping the example would inspire other well-meaning individuals, corporate organisations and community leaders to invest in initiatives that promote peace and security.
“Indeed, security is a shared responsibility, and your intervention has given practical expression to that principle,” he added.
The Commissioner charged the officers and men of the division to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering professional, effective and people-oriented policing, urging that the improved facilities be reflected in better service, faster response, stronger crime prevention and greater public confidence.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, maintaining law and order and ensuring that criminal elements have no safe haven in Osun State.
“To our traditional rulers, community leaders, religious leaders, youth representatives, business owners, and all other stakeholders present, I urge you to sustain this partnership and remain committed to peace, vigilance, and lawful cooperation with the police,” he stated, praying that the project marks the beginning of even stronger cooperation between the police and the community.

In a related address delivered at the commissioning of the perimeter fence of the Ejigbo Police Station in honour of Alhaji Ademola Moccosi, the Deputy Chairman of the Osun State Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), John A. Okedoye, recalled that the idea to enclose the station with a perimeter fence first came up in 2017 following the higher incidence of banditry, Boko Haram insurgency, Fulani-herders attacks and kidnapping, noting that attacks in nearby Ikire and Iwo areas made the need urgent as many police formations were attacked with the armoury as the target. He said letters explaining the seriousness of the situation and indicating all materials needed were written and widely distributed, culminating in a fundraising and award programme organised on 21st April 2018.
He listed notable contributors to include Alhaji Ajibade, who gave the first donation of 2,000 blocks; Chief Johnson Oyeyode Olota, who donated planks; Pa Joseph Adewole Adeoye, Chairman of the Carpenters Association, Ejigbo; Pa Ramani Adeloye, Chief Hunter of Ejigboland; and the Tipper Lorries Association, which gave sand and gravel, among others who contributed money, cement and other materials.
Okedoye said the ceremony was held not only to commission an important security project but also to honour the generosity, courage and commitment of the man who made it possible.
“Sir, when others hesitated, you stepped forward. When expected support did not materialize, you accepted the responsibility and saw the project through to completion. Your action reflects true leadership, selfless service, and genuine love for the community,” he said, adding that the perimeter fence will strengthen the security of the station, regulate access and help protect police personnel, equipment and property.
Describing the project as a lesson in leadership, Okedoye said it demanded financial commitment, patience and determination, and that when the expected support failed to materialise, it could easily have been abandoned, but Alhaji Ademola Moccosi chose action over excuses and service over convenience.
“Where others saw a burden, he saw responsibility. His example reminds us that leadership is not confined to public office. It is also the courage to identify a need, accept responsibility, and provide a lasting solution,” he stated.
He challenged every son and daughter of Ejigbo to support worthy community projects according to their means, saying the greatest tribute that can be paid to the donor is to continue the spirit of service he has demonstrated.
The PCRC deputy chairman also acknowledged that the provision and maintenance of police facilities remain the responsibility of government and relevant authorities, appealing to the police authorities to maintain the facility properly and to the people of Ejigbo to continue cooperating with the police in promoting peace and security.
He expressed the sincere appreciation of the PCRC Ejigbo Division and the entire community for the donor’s generosity, courage and determination, praying that Almighty Allah rewards him abundantly, grants him good health and long life, blesses his household and increases his lawful prosperity.
“Today we celebrate the triumph of determination over hesitation and meaningful service over empty promises. Alhaji Ademola Moccosi has shown that one person can make a lasting difference. Sir, you have not merely built a fence around the Ejigbo Police Station; you have built an example of courage, generosity, and community service,” Okedoye said, praying that the project contributes to a safer Ejigbo and inspires others to support the collective good.
