Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State, destroyed three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Zamfara State and recovered 73 livestock abandoned by fleeing terrorists.

The military disclosed in a statement signed by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, on October 9, noting  that the operations were conducted on October 8 as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, eliminate explosive threats and protect lives and property across the North-West.

In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1, acting on credible intelligence, arrested a suspect identified as Yusuf Adamu at Kuyello in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.

According to the military, preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspect allegedly participated in terrorist activities, including recording a video of a female kidnap victim who was reportedly sexually assaulted by terrorists to facilitate a ransom demand.

The suspect allegedly claimed that the victim was subsequently killed after the ransom was delivered and that he received ₦50,000 for his role in the operation.

The military said investigations were ongoing to apprehend the alleged principal suspect, identified as Yusuf Iliya Sani, and other suspected collaborators.

In a separate operation in Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2, working with personnel of the Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, located and destroyed three improvised explosive devices planted by terrorists along the Magami-Dansadau road.

Also on October 8, troops of Sector 2 responded to intelligence reports about terrorists moving rustled livestock between Kombo and Gurusu villages in Zamfara State.

The troops engaged the suspected terrorists, forcing them to flee and abandon the animals.

The recovered livestock comprised 14 camels, 19 cows and 40 sheep, bringing the total to 73 animals.

The military said the troops, working with local vigilantes, subsequently moved the livestock to a secure location for further action.
