ADC Not Fit to Govern, Says APC Amid Ongoing Party Dispute
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing the opposition party of being responsible for its ongoing internal crisis and dismissing claims that the ruling party is undermining its activities.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka described the ADC as a party plagued by internal confusion and poor leadership decisions. He alleged that the party’s challenges stem from its failure to adhere to due process and constitutional guidelines.
The APC specifically referenced the emergence of a factional leadership within the ADC led by David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, claiming their takeover of the party violated internal rules and triggered the current leadership crisis.
According to the ruling party, the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw recognition of the factional leadership was in line with a court ruling and consistent with electoral laws and democratic principles.
The APC dismissed accusations from the ADC that it is responsible for the opposition party’s instability, describing such claims as “irresponsible” and an attempt to deflect from self-inflicted problems.
The statement further questioned the credibility of the ADC as a viable political platform, arguing that a party unable to resolve its internal issues cannot effectively govern the country.
Reaffirming its position, the APC stated that it remains focused on governance and the implementation of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which it said is aimed at strengthening democratic institutions and promoting national development.
