Ayra Starr Beats Global Stars to Win Best International Act, Wizkid Claims African Crown

Nigerian music stars Ayra Starr and Wizkid have emerged among the biggest winners at the MOBO Awards 2026, reinforcing Afrobeats’ growing global dominance.

Ayra Starr clinched the Best International Act award, beating top global acts including Cardi B, Gunna, and Kehlani.

Wizkid, on the other hand, secured the Best African Music Act award, outperforming fellow Nigerian heavyweights such as Davido, Rema, Tiwa Savage, Shallipopi, and Adekunle Gold.

The 2026 edition of the MOBO Awards, held in Manchester, United Kingdom, celebrated Black music and culture, with Nigerian artists once again taking centre stage on the global scene.

The wins further highlight Nigeria’s continued influence in international music, as Afrobeats stars maintain a strong presence across major global award platforms.
