Bandits Kill Five Forest Guards in Attack on Nuku Community in Kwara
Suspected bandits have killed five forest guards following an early morning attack on Nuku community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday at about 3:00 a.m., has heightened tension across the Nuku–Woro axis, an area already grappling with recurring security threats.
Nuku village, located less than 15 kilometres from Woro along the same route, is said to have a limited security presence, comprising a few mobile police officers and forest guards.
Local sources said the attackers stormed the community under the cover of darkness, targeting security personnel and leaving five forest guards dead.

The development has sparked fear among residents, who now question their safety following the loss of key personnel responsible for protecting lives and property in the area.
“The situation is tense. Those who were meant to protect the community have been killed. People are worried about who might be next and what the attackers plan to do next,” a source in the area said.
The attack has once again highlighted the vulnerability of rural communities in Kaiama LGA, where security operatives are often overstretched in the face of persistent banditry.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from security agencies, while residents continue to call for urgent reinforcement and proactive measures to prevent further attacks.
