Britney Spears Enters Rehab After DUI Arrest Ahead of Court Date
Pop star Britney Spears has entered a rehabilitation facility, weeks after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
According to her representative, the 44-year-old singer voluntarily checked into treatment on Sunday as part of efforts to address her well-being ahead of an upcoming court appearance in California.
Spears was arrested on March 4 after authorities received reports of a driver operating a BMW erratically at high speed on a motorway. Officers from the California Highway Patrol said she showed signs of impairment and underwent field sobriety tests after being pulled over.
Following the incident, her representative described the situation as “completely inexcusable,” adding that her family and close associates were working on a plan to support her recovery and long-term stability.
Her admission into rehab comes about three weeks before she is scheduled to appear in court to face a DUI charge.
Spears, one of the most successful pop artists globally, rose to fame with hit songs such as Baby One More Time, Toxic, and Womanizer. Her career has also been marked by personal and legal challenges, including a conservatorship that lasted 13 years before it ended in 2021.
Her team expressed hope that the latest step would mark the beginning of positive change, noting that she is receiving support from loved ones during this period.
