CIPMN Registrar General Advocates Project Management Standardisation As Panacea For Industrial Transformation And National Growth
The Registrar General and Chief Executive Officer of the Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN), Mr. Henry Ifeanyi Mbadiwe, has underscored the importance of professionalising project management across all sectors as a strategic pathway to unlocking Nigeria’s economic potential, strengthening human capital and accelerating national development.
Mbadiwe made this known at the National Industrial Manpower Summit 2026, held at the State House Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja, with the theme: “Unlocking Nigeria’s Human Capital for Industrial Transformation: Building Skills, Driving Innovation and Creating Prosperity.”
In a statement issued by the Head, Press and Public Relations Unit of CIPMN, Edeaghe Benjamin, ANIPR, the Registrar General noted that sustainable national development and industrial growth depend largely on effective project delivery, competent manpower and adherence to professional standards.
He explained that project management goes beyond administrative responsibilities, serving as a critical foundation for infrastructure development, industrial expansion and the successful implementation of innovative ideas.
The CIPMN Registrar General stressed that achieving meaningful industrial transformation and sustainable prosperity requires deliberate investment in professional competence, workforce development and the enforcement of recognised standards across all sectors of the economy.
“When project delivery is anchored on standardised practices, transparency and accountability, it will eliminate resource wastage, reduce project abandonment and maximise the return on human capital investment,” he said.
Mbadiwe further stated that the institute is a Federal Government Agency under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, established by the CIPMN Act No. 3 of 2018 in Gazette No. 15, Vol. 105, signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR.
Among the Institute’s key areas of focus are licensing and certification, regulation and supervision, training and professional standardisation.
These initiatives are designed to promote competence, uphold ethical conduct and equip practitioners with the knowledge and skills required to manage projects effectively.
Reaffirming the Institute’s commitment to national development, Mbadiwe said CIPMN remains guided by its vision: “Through the professionalisation of project management, build a more sustainable future for the nation.”
He stated that the Institute would continue to collaborate with government agencies, private-sector organisations and educational institutions to promote effective project management practices and support sustainable development across the country.
The Registrar General urged practising project managers, corporate organisations and public-sector institutions to align their operations with applicable CIPMN statutory requirements and professional guidelines, stressing that effective project management is essential to ensuring that investments in national development yield lasting economic and social benefits.
He maintained that institutional collaboration, professional competence and accountability remain vital to reducing project failures, improving resource utilisation and translating Nigeria’s development investments into tangible results for citizens.
Benjamin noted that the summit underscored CIPMN’s commitment to advancing professional project management standards across Nigeria.
