Tension looms over the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of its scheduled National Convention on March 27–28, 2026, as Ambassador Fubara Dagogo, aspirant for the position of National Vice Chairman, South South, has instituted a N100 million legal action at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Dagogo, director-general of the APC States Assembly Forum (ASAF), filed the suit claiming he was excluded from the convention process despite fulfilling all requirements, including payment of the mandatory N5.1 million.

He alleged that the party leadership failed to provide him with the expression of interest and nomination forms, even after receiving official clearance from the APC finance department.

The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/C8/591/2026, seeks several remedies, including:

A perpetual injunction restraining the APC from conducting any zonal congress for South South on March 25, 2026.

A court declaration affirming Dagogo’s entitlement to nomination forms and participation in the National Vice Chairman, South South, election.

A declaration that any outcome of the convention conducted without his participation is null and void.

General damages of N100 million against the National Organising Secretary and the incumbent National Vice Chairman, South South, for alleged mental distress and embarrassment.

The defendants listed in the suit include the APC, National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, incumbent National Vice Chairman South South Victor Giadom, and National Organising Secretary Suleiman Mohammed Argungu. They have been given 30 days to respond to the summons.

No hearing date has yet been scheduled for the case, leaving uncertainty over whether the APC convention will proceed as planned.
