EDO STATE GOVERNMENT DISMISSES PDP’S CLAIMS ON SECURITY AS “SHAMELESS PROPAGANDA”

The Edo State Government has dismissed claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the state is insecure, describing it as “shameless propaganda.” In a statement, Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor, Fred Itua, stated that the PDP’s allegations are a desperate attempt to mislead the public and scare investors away.

Itua emphasized that the state government, under Governor Monday Okpebholo, has made significant strides in improving security, contrary to the PDP’s claims. “Edo people have not forgotten that it was under PDP’s watch that security in the state completely collapsed, forcing citizens to live in fear,” Fred Itua said.

The government highlighted several achievements in the security sector, including the deployment of special tactical teams, the rescue of kidnapped victims, and the passage of tougher laws against crime. “Unlike the PDP’s years of excuses and failures, Governor Monday Okpebholo has hit the ground running, implementing concrete and strategic measures to secure the state,” Itua added.

Itua also noted that the state government has procured brand new security vehicles and motorcycles, which have enhanced the security agencies’ patrol and rapid response capabilities. “Edo is open for business, security is improving, and the government is fully committed to creating a safe and prosperous environment for all,” Fred Itua said.

The government urged the PDP to desist from spreading falsehoods and to acknowledge the progress being made in the state. “Chris Nehikhare and the Edo PDP should bury their heads in shame for trying to mislead the public and scare investors away,” Itua stated. “Edo people know the truth, and the truth is that Governor Okpebholo is delivering real results in security, not PDP’s empty noise.”
