U.S. Congressman Suhas Subramanyam has called on First Lady Melania Trump to testify under oath before the House Oversight Committee following renewed public scrutiny over her alleged links to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Subramanyam’s remarks come shortly after Melania Trump issued a firm public denial of any relationship or association with Epstein, whose criminal activities and connections to high-profile figures continue to generate controversy years after his death.

Speaking in response to her statement, the congressman said appearing before Congress would be the most effective way for the First Lady to “clear her name” and put lingering questions to rest. He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability, particularly given the sensitivity of Epstein’s case and its wide-reaching implications.

Melania Trump has not indicated any willingness to comply with the request. Her office maintains that the allegations are baseless and politically motivated, reiterating that she had no involvement with Epstein.

The situation adds a new dimension to ongoing political tensions in Washington, where lawmakers remain divided over how far inquiries related to Epstein’s network should extend. While some Democrats have pushed for broader investigations into individuals allegedly connected to Epstein, others warn against politicizing the issue without concrete evidence.

The House Oversight Committee has not formally announced any plans to summon the First Lady, and it remains unclear whether such a move would gain bipartisan support.

Epstein, who was arrested in 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges, died in custody later that year, but investigations into his associates and alleged enablers have continued to reverberate across political and social circles.
