Belgian tennis star David Goffin has announced that he will retire from professional tennis after the 2026 ATP Tour season, bringing an end to a career that has spanned over a decade.

The 35-year-old, a former world No.7, confirmed his decision in a heartfelt message shared on social media, describing it as one of the most difficult choices of his life after years of competing at the highest level.

Goffin enjoyed a successful career on the ATP Tour, winning six singles titles and reaching nine additional finals. He also finished runner-up at the prestigious ATP Finals in 2017, one of the highlights of his career.

At Grand Slam level, the Belgian reached four quarterfinals, including the French Open (2016), Australian Open (2017), and Wimbledon (2019 and 2022), but never advanced beyond the last eight.

Known for his consistency and resilience, Goffin recorded over 350 career wins and secured notable victories against top players such as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic.

In recent years, injuries; particularly a lingering knee problem, have affected his performance and played a key role in his decision to step away from the sport.

Goffin, who turned professional in 2009, also made history as the first Belgian male player to break into the ATP Top 10 rankings.

He is expected to compete through the 2026 season before officially calling time on his career.
