Gunmen Abduct Delta LG Chairman in Brazen Night Attack, Open Fire on Vigilantes

Gunmen on Friday night abducted the Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, Okakuro Bright Afure Abeke, in a violent attack in Delta State.

The incident occurred at about 7:25 p.m. at a hotel identified as Debrofred, located along Owumi Road in Sapele.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attackers, who arrived in a Range Rover, stormed the premises and opened fire on vigilante members, including one identified as Ufuoma, and another individual before seizing the council chairman.

The assailants reportedly whisked Abeke away to an unknown destination, leaving the area in panic.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from security agencies regarding the incident, while concerns grow over the safety of the abducted chairman.

The attack adds to rising insecurity concerns in parts of Delta State, with residents calling for urgent action by security authorities to secure his release and prevent further incidents.
