The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed receiving an invitation to participate in the congresses and national convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by David Mark.

The electoral body disclosed that the invitation, dated March 31, 2026, formally requested its presence in line with its statutory role of observing political party activities.

The development comes amid rising tensions within the party, as the David Mark-led leadership recently cautioned INEC and the judiciary against alleged external pressures aimed at destabilising the ADC.

David Mark emerged as the party’s national chairman following a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in July 2025.

The ADC has positioned itself as a key opposition platform in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.

More details are expected as the situation unfolds.
