Three major opposition parties  the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and the African Democratic Congress (ADC)  are absent from the ballot papers for the Kano State House of Assembly by-elections holding today.

The by-elections, organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), are being conducted to fill two vacant seats in the Kano State House of Assembly. The vacancies arose following the deaths of the former lawmakers last year, who were members of the NNPP before their demise.

Despite being major political stakeholders in the state, the PDP, NNPP, and ADC are not listed among the parties on the ballot.

A total of nine other political parties are, however, featured on the ballot papers for the exercise.
