NEWLY ELECTED YOUTH LEADER FALLS VICTIM TO IMO STATE VIOLENCE

Imo State’s escalating violence has claimed the life of Stanley Nwoke, a newly elected youth leader, in a brutal attack that also left four of his siblings injured. The incident occurred on Saturday night in Umusi/Olokwa community, Owerri West Local Government Area, where nine houses were also set ablaze.

Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma visited the community on Sunday to assess the situation and condemn the attack. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and those who lost their homes.

The violence is believed to have been sparked by a disputed youth election held on January 3, 2025, which Nwoke won. A rival faction, allegedly led by Chinaza Nwachukwu, is suspected to be behind the attack.
CP Danjuma appealed for calm and urged community leaders to adopt peaceful conflict resolution strategies to prevent further violence. “We will do everything possible to restore peace and normalcy in the community,” he assured.
