NIGERIAN NAVY HANDS OVER 3-MAN KIDNAPPING GANG, VICTIM TO POLICE AFTER SUCCESSFUL RESCUE OPERATION

The Nigerian Navy has handed over a three-man kidnapping gang to the Police, following their arrest in connection with the abduction of a naval officer and other victims in Abuja. Commodore Oluseyi Oladipo, Commander of the Naval Unit in Abuja, said the officer was kidnapped on Friday, March 21, 2025, around Mpape, Abuja.

The successful operation was carried out by a joint Quick Response Squad from the Naval Base, in collaboration with troops from the Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army and personnel from the Nigeria Police Force. According to Oladipo, the victims were tracked to a forest hideout in Nasarawa State where they were rescued in the early hours of Sunday, March 23.

“The Base will continue to collaborate with other security agencies to ensure that Abuja remains safe and secure,” Oladipo said. He reaffirmed the Naval Unit’s commitment to the vision of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, to maintain a motivated naval force capable of ensuring security across Nigeria’s maritime and land-based environments.

Oladipo expressed appreciation to the Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for his leadership in enhancing security within the capital. The suspects, along with relevant exhibits, were formally handed over to the FCT Police Command for further investigation and prosecution. The suspects have confessed to kidnapping, cattle rustling, and other criminal activities.
