Ogun Monarchs, Traders Rally Support for Tinubu, Adeola Ahead of 2027 Elections
Market leaders, traditional rulers and community heads in Ogun West have declared their support for the re-election bid of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the 2027 governorship ambition of Solomon Adeola.
The endorsement was made on Wednesday at a gathering in Ilaro, where the groups, operating under the Baales Forum and supported by traders across the district, pledged to mobilise grassroots support to secure victory for both candidates in the next general elections.
Speaking at the event, the Babaloja of Yewaland and Ogun State, Chief Adewale Adesina, attributed the endorsement to what he described as the impactful leadership and developmental strides of both Tinubu and Adeola.
According to him, the President’s economic reforms, though challenging, are beginning to stabilise the nation’s finances and reposition the country for growth.
“President Tinubu has taken bold steps to address economic challenges, and we are already seeing signs of progress. This is why we believe he deserves another term to consolidate on these efforts,” Adesina said.
He also commended Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, for facilitating infrastructure and empowerment projects across Ogun West, including roads, schools, healthcare facilities and community support initiatives.
Adesina, however, stressed that endorsement alone would not guarantee electoral success, urging residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and actively participate in the voting process.
He revealed that the group plans to mobilise no fewer than 500,000 votes through a campaign tagged “Show Your PVC,” aimed at increasing voter turnout in the 2027 elections.
Also speaking, the Iyaloja-General of Ogun State, Chief Yemisi Abass, said traders in the region were committed to sustaining what she described as the positive impact of both leaders through massive mobilisation.
Representing the Baales Forum, Simeon Fagbohun disclosed that over 1,000 community heads had aligned with the endorsement, expressing confidence in Adeola’s capacity to transform the state if elected governor.
Similarly, Oba Isaac Adeisa, the Ogiyan of Alari, who spoke on behalf of coronet traditional rulers, said the monarchs had unanimously resolved to back Tinubu’s re-election and Adeola’s governorship bid, citing their contributions to economic development and infrastructure.
The endorsement underscores growing political mobilisation in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections, with stakeholders emphasising grassroots participation as key to electoral success.
