PDP SET TO NOMINATE REPLACEMENT FOR SACKED NATIONAL SECRETARY ANYANWU

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is set to nominate a replacement for its sacked National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu. According to Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, the Spokesperson of the Opposition Lawmakers Coalition and leader of the Ugochinyere, the South-East Caucus of the party is ready to nominate a replacement by next week.

Ugochinyere, who represents Ideato North/South Federal Constituency of Imo State in the House of Representatives, said Anyanwu’s alleged plot to use the court to derail the process won’t stop the emergence of a new national secretary. “The South-East PDP have already started the process of the committee meeting where the South-East will nominate a consensus candidate which most of us lawmakers and leaders have already agreed will be Udeh Okoye,” Ugochinyere stated.

The lawmaker hailed Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, for providing strong leadership for the South-East despite challenges. He expressed optimism that Ude Okoye’s nomination will usher in positive development in the party.

Ugochinyere explained that the party has already appointed an acting national secretary, with the deputy national secretary currently holding the position. “The issue of who is national secretary of our party will be resolved in the coming days,” he added. The South-East zone of the executive committee is meeting in Enugu State to nominate a consensus candidate to be submitted to the national working committee for rectification.
