Plateau Govt Imposes 48 Hour Curfew in Jos North After Deadly Attack
The Plateau State Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area following a deadly attack in Gari Ya Waye community, Angwan Rukuba, which resulted in multiple fatalities and several injuries.
The curfew takes immediate effect from 12 midnight on March 29 and will run until April 1, 2026, according to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap.
The government, under the leadership of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, strongly condemned the attack, describing it as barbaric and unprovoked.
It assured residents that security agencies have been mobilised to restore order and track down those responsible for the violence, with a commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Authorities also called on residents to remain calm, stay vigilant and cooperate with security operatives by providing credible information that could assist ongoing investigations.
The curfew is part of efforts to prevent further breakdown of law and order and to ensure the safety of lives and property in the affected area.
