Police: No Confirmed Report of Kidney Sales or Organ Trafficking in Nyanya

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has dismissed as false a viral report alleging that young people living around Nyanya in the FCT have been selling their kidneys for money.

The report, which circulated widely on social media, also alleged that an agent operating in nearby Mararaba was involved in the purchase of human kidneys.

However, the FCT Police Command said it has neither received nor confirmed any report of kidney sales or human organ trafficking in Nyanya or the surrounding area.

In a statement, the Command stressed that no statement or official communication confirming the allegations had been issued by the police.

The police therefore urged residents and social media users to disregard the viral report and refrain from circulating unverified information capable of creating fear, panic and unnecessary apprehension within the community.

The Command said the circulation of unconfirmed claims could create unnecessary tension among residents and urged members of the public to rely on verified information from appropriate authorities on security-related matters.

At the same time, the police encouraged anyone with credible information regarding suspected human organ trafficking or any other criminal activity in the Federal Capital Territory to report it promptly to the nearest police station.
