Troops Storm Boko Haram/ISWAP Camp in Adamawa, Kill 21 Terrorists just as Joint Forces Destroy Camp, Recover AK-47 Rifles as Search for Abducted Victims Intensifies

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with a tactical team from the Office of the National Security Adviser, have killed more than 21 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and destroyed a major terrorist camp in the Kopre Mountain area of Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State.

The offensive, conducted in the early hours of Thursday, followed credible intelligence on the location of the terrorists’ enclave and was part of intensified efforts to rescue persons abducted by terrorist groups in the area.

According to the Joint Task Force (North East), the operation involved the ONSA Tactical Team and newly inducted troops of 226 Battalion, deployed to Sector 4, Adamawa State, following a directive from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.

The troops reportedly carried out a stealth insertion into the difficult and rugged terrain before launching a precision assault on the terrorist camp.

The joint force encountered the terrorists in two separate engagements, resulting in the neutralisation of more than 21 insurgents.

Several other terrorists reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.

After the engagements, the troops took control of the area and dismantled the entire terrorist camp, including associated logistics infrastructure.

The operation also resulted in the destruction of several motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit, believed to have been used by the terrorists for logistics and mobility.

Troops recovered several AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines and a substantial quantity of 7.62mm Special ammunition from the location.

The operation was particularly significant as security forces continue efforts to locate and rescue victims believed to be held by terrorist elements in the area.

Among those being sought are persons abducted from Mussa community in May 2026 and schoolchildren from Lassa who were reportedly abducted in June.

The military said the latest offensive demonstrated the ability of the joint force to deploy intelligence-driven operations and project combat power into difficult terrain where terrorist groups have established enclaves.

It said the destruction of the camp and associated logistics infrastructure would further degrade the terrorists’ operational capability and restrict their freedom of movement in the area.

The Military High Command commended the ONSA Tactical Team and Operation HADIN KAI troops for what it described as their gallantry, professionalism, resilience and effective coordination during the operation.

The Joint Task Force said it would sustain aggressive and intelligence-led operations across the North-East to dismantle terrorist strongholds, disrupt their logistics and fighting capabilities and rescue abducted persons.

It also assured residents that search and rescue operations would continue until the abducted victims are located and rescued.

The military said the broader objective remained the restoration of lasting peace and security across the North-East.
