Edo State has officially welcomed Mrs. Sabina Chikere as the new Executive Director of the Edo Sports Commission. Her historic return to the commission took place on Monday, January 6, 2025, marking the beginning of her tenure.

Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo appointed Chikere as Executive Director on December 18, 2024, tasking her with overseeing the operational and sports development affairs of the state. As the former Permanent Secretary of the commission, Chikere brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role.

Honourable Desmond Enabulele, Executive Chairman of the commission, warmly welcomed Chikere back, ensuring that her office is being prepared with all necessary amenities. Chikere’s impressive track record, earned during her time as General Coordinator and Permanent Secretary of Sports under former Governor Godwin Obaseki, has earned her the nickname “The Working One.”

With her expertise and experience, Chikere is expected to play a pivotal role in revitalizing the state’s sports sector. The commission’s board members, including Hon. Frank Ilaboya, Baldwin Bazuaye, and Odianose Anthony Ikuenobe, Esq., are set to provide their full support to Chikere and Enabulele.
