TAAG Launches Luanda–Abidjan Flights to Strengthen West African Air Links
TAAG Angola Airlines has commenced commercial passenger operations on its new Luanda–Abidjan route, reinforcing efforts to boost regional connectivity and expand its footprint across Africa.

The development was disclosed in a statement by Mr. Lilas Orlov, Press Attaché at the Angolan Embassy in Abuja.
Under the new schedule, the route will operate three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays providing increased travel options between Luanda and Abidjan.
TAAG said flights will be operated mainly with the Airbus A220-300, a modern aircraft designed for efficiency and passenger comfort, with a seating capacity of about 137.
The airline explained that the new route forms part of its long-term expansion strategy aimed at strengthening its presence in Africa while positioning Angola as a central aviation hub. A key component of this plan is the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport, which is being developed to serve as a major gateway linking Africa to Europe, South America, and other global destinations.
TAAG also highlighted the route’s multipoint connectivity advantage, allowing passengers from Abidjan to access its broader international network through Luanda.
In addition to passenger services, the airline noted that the route will support cargo operations, enhancing trade and economic cooperation between Angola and Côte d’Ivoire.
A commemorative ceremony was held at Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport to mark the inaugural flight, with attendance from government officials, aviation stakeholders, and industry representatives from both countries.
